NNA - Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued the following statement: “The enemy’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not satisfied with the aggression he is waging against Lebanon, reaping martyrs, victims and indescribable destruction, but he also insists on showing his aggression towards the UNIFIL forces operating in the south."
He added that "Netanyahu's warning to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres demanding the removal of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon represents a new chapter in the enemy's approach of non-compliance with international legitimacy and its relevant resolutions."
Mikati considered that such a statement is at the disposal of the international community and the United Nations, and must denote "a new incentive to take the appropriate stance after Netanyahu turned against the French-American call supported by foreign and Arab countries for a ceasefire."
"Lebanon, which condemns Netanyahu's position and the Israeli aggression against UNIFIL, renews its commitment to international legitimacy, UN Resolution 1701, the role of the United Nations peacekeeping forces in the south and their positive cooperation with the army," Mikati asserted.
He concluded by reiterating Lebanon's call to the international community to take a firm position that stops the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and international legitimacy as well.
