NNA - Upon an invitation by UNESCO in Paris, Caretaker Minister of Education, Dr. Abbas Al-Halabi, partook in the “Transformation of Education” preparatory summit to be held by the United Nations in New York in September 2022.

The Minister held several meetings, which he initiated with an audience with the Assistant Director-General for Education at UNESCO. The pair discussed UNESCO's efforts in terms of supporting the educational sector in Lebanon.

Al-Halabi also participated in a round table discussion titled "Transformation of Education in Emergencies and Crises", during which he considered that "Lebanon will continue to be steadfast despite the multiple crises it is facing through the support that the international community, which helped it end an academic year that was full of challenges and obstacles."

On the other hand, Al-Halabi expressed his fear about some obstacles that the educational sector might face next year, especially in terms of securing the transportation of teachers and students in light of the financial crisis that the country endures.
