NNA - House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Monday insisted that any capital control law should preserve the rights of depositors “first and foremost”.

The House Speaker’s words came as a reiteration of a previous stance he had expressed in a meeting in the presence of the Central Bank Governor and the President of the Association of Banks during the tenure of former Prime Minister, Hassan Diab.

On the other hand, Speaker Berri received at the Second Presidency in Ain El-Tineh General Security Chief, Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim, with whom he discussed the current general situation, especially the security one.

Berri also met with Minister of Energy and Water, Dr. Walid Fayyad, with discussions touching on an array of issues related to the energy, electricity and water sector

This afternoon, Berri received Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Abiad, with whom he discussed the current health situation and legislative affairs.

Among Speaker Berri’s itinerant visitors for today had been former Minister Karim Pakradouni and lawyer Joseph Abu Fadel.
