Nassar tours Batroun & Hardin: A model for the finest tourist cities in the world

NNA – Tourism Minister Walid Nassar visited Saturday the city of Batroun, where he began his tour by meeting with the Head of the Union of Municipalities of the Batroun Region and its Mayor, Marcelino El-Harak, at the Municipal Palace, in the presence of Mount Lebanon Shores Army Unit Commander, Colonel Antoine Franjieh, Tour Guides Syndicate Head Elissar Baalbaki, and a number of municipal council members and heads of departments in the Ministry of Tourism.

Nassar expressed his joy to be visiting Batroun and his admiration each time he visits due to its “rich historical sites and tourism wealth, which raised it to the ranks of international tourist cities, to become a model for the finest tourist cities in the world."

He also commended the Christmas activity launched by the Christmas Committee and the Batroun Municipality, "in this festive month during which we wish the politicians would give a truce period to the Lebanese, so that they could live the joy of Christmas and invest their sources of livelihood at all levels."

In this context, Nassar explained his Ministry's plan "to launch tourist administrative decentralization by opening offices of the Ministry of Tourism in all regions, so that it would form a link between the regions and the Ministry of Tourism, saving citizens the hardship of moving to Beirut."

Afterwards, he toured the old market and visited the office of the Ministry of Tourism and the new office within the tourist administrative decentralization plan, from which the QR-Code service was launched with the aim of having tourists and visitors assess their visit to Batroun, followed by a stop-over at the Fishermen’s Harbor, the Lebanese Diaspora Quarter, the Phoenician Wall, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, St. George’s Church and Our Lady of the Sea, and the Tourist Routes Center.

Following a luncheon banquet hosted in his honor in the San Stefano Resort, Nassar, along with the Free Patriotic Movement Chief, MP Gebran Bassil, and the Batroun Mayor, inaugurated the "Batroun Christmas Exhibition" within the framework of the Batroun “Capitale de Noel” Project in the old markets.

Earlier, Nassar had visited the town of Hardin, where he was received by the Mayor of Hardin-Beit Kassab, Ramza Assaf, who welcomed him in “the town of 33 churches, a shrine, and a hermitage," and presented the tourism projects implemented by the municipality in addition to future plans, affirming "full readiness to launch a tourism workshop that accords Hardin the attention it deserves in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism."

Nassar, in turn, expressed his admiration for Hardin’s "beauty and its tourist, religious and historical wealth," pledging to work to include Hardin on the Lebanese and international tourist map “because this town is distinctive and exemplary and constitutes a religious and cultural tourist treasure.”
