NNA - Beirut Greek Orthodox Archbishop Elias Audi met Tuesday with Deputy Prime Minister, Samir Moqbel, who condemned the attempts to tamper with the President of the Republic, Michel Sleiman.



"The positions of President Sleiman have protected the country," Moqbel told reporters following the meeting.



On the electoral law issue, Moqbel said he supported any proposal guaranteeing the best and just representation of all the Lebanese.



On a different note, he hoped the government would be able to cover the charges of the salary scale, without increasing taxes.



Archbishop Audi later met with the UNDP representative in Lebanon, Robert Watkins, over the challenges stalking Lebanon.



The pair also discussed the legislative polls and optional civil marriage issues.
