NNA - Member of the parliamentary bloc Change and Reform, Farid el-Khazen, said Sunday to Voice of Lebanon radio that his party will reject any electoral law that does not guarantee true Christian and Muslim parity.



Khazen added that the Free Patriotic Movement, Speaker of the House Nabih Berri and Hezbollah had accorded priority to an electoral law based on proportional representation.



"All proposals were rejected by the other party, which relied on changes in Syria," he said, noting that the electoral law approved by the joint parliamentary committee was purely Lebanese production, for the first time since 1990.



According to Khazen, the Lebanese political system must be based on political competition within each community.



The member in the same context aimed to reach a consensual electoral law, and to maintain the due date of elections.
