NNA - A unit of the Lebanese Army Commandos discovered on Tuesday an incomplete tunnel in Roumieh prison, as a military patrol was circulating around the penitentiary.



According to a statement issued by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces, soldiers chanced upon the exit of an unfinished tunnel of a three-meter height, outside the prison nearby the building "D".



Subsequently, the Deputy Government Commissioner to the Military Court, Judge Dany Zeanny, visited the site and inspected the discovered tunnel.



Preliminary investigations showed that the concrete layer, with a diameter of about 150cm and covering a part of the tunnel, was old and going back to the mutiny that shook the prison two years ago.



Samples were also collected in the tunnel located outside the prison, with a view to analysis.
