NNA - House Speaker Nabih Berri on Friday received the Head of the Maronite Supreme Council, former Minister Wadih Khazen, with talks featuring high on electoral affairs.
The pair stressed the need to reach consent over the elections law currently under study.
"We insist on just representation and parity stipulated in the constitution's preamble," Khazen confirmed in the wake of the meeting, assuring that this would strengthen conviviality basis and reflect a great image of Lebanon.
Khazen quoted Berri as saying that Arsal's incident was painful, and would deeply affect the Lebanese internal scene.
"We also tackled the recent accusation by Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry against Hezbollah. Speaker Berri said what infuriated him the most were the constant Israeli attempts to mention Hezbollah's name in terrorist operations, among which the Burgas incident," he said.
Later in the day, Berri received the Minister of Justice Shakib Qortbawi and the Head of International Union for Notaries, Jean-Paul Decorps, with talks touching on the possibility to speed up the approval of the draft law which aims to establish a representative council of Lebanese Notary, a condition set by the Union to join it.
Amongst Berri's visitors had been Foreign Affairs Minister, Adnan Mansour, who informed his host of the outcome of the recent Islamic Summit Conference in Cairo; and the British Ambassador, Tom Fletcher.
