Qortbawi: not to politicize Bulgaria's accusation of Hezbollah

NNA - Justice Minister Shakeeb Qortbawi denied in an interview with Voice of Lebanon that the government has received any information from the Bulgarian government about the alleged involvement of Hezbollah in the bomb attack that killed a number of Israeli tourists.

He called on all Lebanese parties not to embroil this issue in the domestic politics and to read carefully the position of the Bulgarian opposition which rejected the accusation of Bulgarian government that Hezbollah was involved in the bomb attack.

"We have to read carefully the position of the Bulgarian opposition and follow the example of European Union Foreign Minister Catherine Ashton who is seriously evaluating alleged involvement of Hezbollah in the bomb attack," the minister said.

In another note, Qortbawi said the investigation into the crime in Arsal is taking its legal and normal course, adding that the judicial authorities are interrogating a number of suspects and will send the results of their findings to the prosecution office which in turn will issue arrest warrants.

But he assured that no arrest warrants have been issued up till now.

The minister explained that he is still studying judge Hatem Madi's request to lift the immunity on MP Boutros Harb, urging all sides not to politicize this issue.
