NNA - Social Affair Minister, Wael Abou Faour, discussed on Monday the grim situation of displaced Syrians residing on Lebanese territories with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Valerie Amos.
Abou Faour briefed Amos on the fact that the number of displaced Syrians has surpassed 200 thousand people in Lebanon.
"The burden has increased and Lebanon is in need of an updated plan to contain this growing number," Abou Faour said on emerging.
In turn, Amos said she would be taking part in Kuwait's donor conference.
"The purpose of this conference is to seek support for nations neighboring to Syria, as well as United Nations organizations, to be able to provide Syrian refugees with food, medicine, tents and blankets," Amos said.
She also briefed Abou Faour on the dire humanitarian situation of Syrians, especially with obstacles hindering the reach of aid and support inside Syria.
"A lot of people working within the Humanitarian field at the United Nations have been either killed or kidnapped," she added.
