Mansour: Government will not resign


NNA - Mikati-led government will not resign for fear of generating undesired political vacuum, minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Adnan Mansour stated today.



The minister and, in an interview on Voice of Lebanon radio station morning talk show, stressed that the government is here to stay and that it would never tender its resignation prior to general elections.



He added that Speaker Berri is presently nursing a parliamentarian consensus and attributed low expatriate electoral running to general frustration with leaders.



Mansour rejected Syrian ambassadorial legation in Lebanon in order not to antagonize Assad's regime. He disclosed up to U.S. $ 180 million allocated by the recent Kuwait Arab summit to Syrian refugees displaced by the regime into Lebanon. The minister disclosed a Jordanian proposal to accommodate further numbers of displaced by setting tent encampments inside Syria proper. Mansour complained about Palestinians and Syrians recently displace now standing now at 4-12% of the total number of population with all insecurity and instability the influx entails.
