NNA - Deputy Michel Murr said that the so-called Orthodox proposal considerably wanes the acquired rights of Christians in the Taef Accord, and brings the country back to the middle Ages.



MP Murr met Friday with municipal and mayoral heads and councils of northern and southern Metn region.



"The Orthodox sect has no relation with the so-called Orthodox proposal," Murr said before the visiting municipal delegation.



Murr also urged Speaker of the House Nabih Berri to put forward an electoral proposal that would secure national unity among the Lebanese and preserve the principle of parity in the number of Christian and Muslim deputies.



Murr also warned against the gravity of current incidents in the region, especially in Syria and their repercussions on the situation in Lebanon, whether at the security, political or social level. Murr hailed the role of the Army and Internal Security Forces in safeguarding Lebanon in this regard.
