Cabinet convenes to discuss 39item agenda

NNA - The Cabinet met Tuesday in a session at the Grand Serail, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Najib Mikati, to look into a 39-ietm agenda.

Speaking to reporters before the session convened, State Minister Marwan Kheireddine said, in response to a question on reducing power supply hours to Beirut and fees increase, that he would favor such a proposal if the hike would go to funding the salary scale.

For his part, Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud said he was in support of a redistribution of electricity equally among citizens.

In turn, Education Minister Hassan Diab indicated that the full-time employment dossier of the Lebanese University's contract teachers was finalized and forwarded before the Cabinet over a month ago.

As to the issue of appointing the university's deans council, Diab said such a matter required a political consensus.

Besides, Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas noted that the meetings, held by Premier Mikati and the accompanying delegation in Riyadh yesterday, were very positive for Lebanon.

"The relation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a relation of cooperation and coordination and it is more than normal," he said.
