NNA - Democratic Gathering Head, MP Walid Jumblatt, voiced support Sunday for negotiations via mediating states, but not for any direct trade-in operation, with regards to the kidnapped army soldiers issue.

Jumblatt also called for speeding-up trials of prisoners who have been held in jail for more than 10 years for narrow political circumstances.

"We stress on the march of openness and dialogue between the entire nation's constituents," said Jumblatt, calling for "combating terrorism and supporting the State and Army in the face of all dangers." He also highlighted the importance of national unity and respecting others' opinions and preserving diversity at this critical stage.

Jumblatt's words came during his tour along Mount Lebanon's western region on Sunday, which included the areas of Qabr Shmoun, Bennaih and Kfarmatta. The visit was a chance to have a closer look at the developmental needs and various demands of these areas. He was accompanied by Cabinet Ministers Akram Shehayeb and Wael Abu Faour, as well as Deputies Henri Helou, Ghazi Aridi and Fuad Saad.
