NNA - Member of Parliament Salim Salhab urged all political groups in Lebanon to seek a common ground for the new election law since there is conviction that these elections should be held on time and based on a new electoral system that surpasses the 1960 law.
Speaking to Voice of Lebanon, the MP said the political maneuvers before the elections have kicked off.
"We should be committed among ourselves to reach an agreement in order to alleviate the damages from the region which now stand on the brink of a volcano," Salhab added.
The MP praised the discussions of the subcommittees which aim to find a suitable election law.
"This is the first time various Lebanese parties discuss a new election law away from foreign tutelage."
Salhab said it is too early to set up a Senate council in Lebanon now because there are several steps needed to be taken before creating this senate.
