NNA - Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Rahi, said during Sunday sermon at Bkirky that the dissociation policy, suggested by President Michel Sleiman as an official approach to regional and international events, indicated Lebanon's reverence of the autonomy of other nations and noninterference in their local affairs.

Lebanese factions' interest in regional events has kept them from finding solutions to vital issues, such as agreeing upon a new electoral law, forming a new cabinet, and rising with the economic situation.

"It is truly shameful and unfair for Lebanon, its people and its constitutional institutions for political factions to suspend solutions to fundamental national issues pending outcome of events in Syria."

Rahi categorically rejected such an tactics, warning they could only bring "more evil upon Lebanon."
