NNA - Arab Democratic Party leader, Refaat Eid, on Tuesday expected the truce in Tripoli to last especially amid the full coverage of the Lebanese Army.
"But if things went out of control, security would not return to the normal track," he told a news conference he held today at his residence in Jabal Mohsen.
"In the very beginning we said that we could control the situation as long as there were no martyrs and we took the initiative not to cover Talkalakh ambush; we even asked the Syrian regime to hand over the bodies," he said.
Eid confirmed his party would hand over its weapons provided that the "Free Syrian Army" would as well.
He also underlined the demands of the Alawite community. "We want to name Deputies, we want a representative at the dialogue and the Petroleum Administration Committee. We want out part in the government and we want our right to everything," he said.
He concluded that if the Syrian regime fell, the entire Middle East would also fall. "I reassure everybody that the regime in Syria will not fall and that we will not attack anyone. This is our decision. But, we will not accept that anyone attacks us."
