NNA - Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi announced on Tuesday the issuance of a national document from Bkirki after the meeting of the Maronite Bishops Council on Wednesday February 5, explaining that the document will be based on three elements: national constants, concerns and priorities.

"We started working on it since August, after a long series of meetings with all Lebanese officials at all levels, and after listening to their concerns and aspirations," he explained.

Rahi who believes the Lebanese internal situation is very dangerous, stressed "the need for Christians to play a leading role, especially amid what is happening in the region."

On a different note, the Patriarch met with former Minister Farid Haykal Khazen with talks touching on the current situation and the latest developments, particularly regarding the issue of forming the government.

Rahi called on political forces to "rise above narrow interests to facilitate the formation of an all-embracing government which will prevent a complete vacuum in constitutional institutions."

The Patriarch had met Deputy Henry Helo and reviewed with him the developments both locally and regionally.
