Jamaa Islamiya denies participation in antiPM tent

NNA - 24/10/2012 - The Jamaa Islamiya denied on Wednesday news about the group's participation in a tent erected off the Tripoli residence of Premier Najib Mikati to press for the latter's resignation.

"The Jamaa expressed its stance towards the incumbent government since the assassination of General Wissam Hassan, and called for its departure because it has become a burden on the nation and the citizens. It also called the Prime Minister to bear his national and Islamic responsibility by taking the initiative to end the term of this government through [practicing] his constitutional powers," the Jamaa said in a statement.

"The Jamaa sees it is useless to transfer the conflict [next door] to the Islamic domestic scene through targeting the person of Premier Mikati," the statement read.
