NNA - The Minister of Environment Nazem Khoury announced Thursday that the Ministry is in the process of launching new projects aimed at combating climate change.
"What concerns us the most is that climate change has serious impact on the Arab world and on Lebanon in spite of the small size of emissions compared to the world's emissions," the Minister warned, saying severe climatic phenomena could occur, mainly the alteration in rainfall patterns.
"We may witness either heavy rains or long periods of total dryness, what makes us all grant the water management issue in Lebanon great concern," the Minister said.
Khoury chaired Thursday at the Green Room in the MOE discussions on "Climate Change" during which was tackled the stance of Lebanon to be presented and discussed at the 18th Conference of the Parties which will be held in Doha late November, with the participation of representatives of non-governmental organizations, civil associations, academic institutions and media.
